The word ‘Talapattrachitra’ is derived from the Sanskrit words ‘tala’ for palm, ‘patra’ for leaf and ‘chitra’. These paintings are carved and cut in the dried palm leafs with a sharp knife kind of pen’. This is also known as Palm Leaf Engraving.
